This brief contribution aims to examine the relationship between the art-historical research and museum. In these pages we will try to reflect on the way in which certain recent museological practice (2011-2013) translated the results of contemporary art-historicalresearch, fixing as observation point the studies on the artistic heritage of a particular period (the nineteenth century); we will question some of the ways in which the museum today provides its share of potential interlocutor between society and the world of art historyanalyzing the recent diplays of three European museums: the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Tate Britain in London, the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna in Rome.
