It is shown by numerical computation that real-world optimal electrical power flow problems can be solved in real-time using vector processors. These problems are nonlinear optimization problems characterized by highly nonlinear constraints and a large number of variables, and cannot be solved in real-time even on mainframe computers. The speedup achieved in our vectorized computations is two orders of magnitude for some problems. © 1988 The Mathematical Programming Society, Inc.

Abstract

It is shown by numerical computation that real-world optimal electrical power flow problems can be solved in real-time using vector processors. These problems are nonlinear optimization problems characterized by highly nonlinear constraints and a large number of variables, and cannot be solved in real-time even on mainframe computers. The speedup achieved in our vectorized computations is two orders of magnitude for some problems. © 1988 The Mathematical Programming Society, Inc.
