In Group Psychology and the Analysis of the Ego (1921) Sigmund Freud proposes an analysis of Psychology of Crowds (1895) by Gustave Le Bon, identifying its strengths and weaknesses for a new contribution to the study of how drives work within crowds. Freud and Le Bon investigate on the way in which religion takes root and spreads: the paper is aimed to deepen both perspectives, psychological and psychoanalytical, of the religious phenomenon in the masses.

Abstract

In Group Psychology and the Analysis of the Ego (1921) Sigmund Freud proposes an analysis of Psychology of Crowds (1895) by Gustave Le Bon, identifying its strengths and weaknesses for a new contribution to the study of how drives work within crowds.
