Abstract

The essay attempts to analyze the online practice of consumption on Amazon.it by means of Greimasian semiotics to define the dimensions of the observer actant. The analysis adopts the canonical narrative schema and pays attention to the notions of aspectuality and modalization. As it moves from the narrative structure to the discursive structure of Amazon.it as a syncretic text, two particular observer actants are taken into consideration: the algorithm and the cart.
