This manuscript is the Editorial to our Research Topic “Novel Pain Therapeutics: form basic research to clinical translation and rehabilitation”. The Editorial is a definition of the state of art from chronic pain pathophysiology and pharmacological or complementary control to rehabilitation. It highlights aspects ranging from neuroinflammation as a source of novel therapeutic targets, to the need for more conclusive clinical trials on pain killers efficacy in central pain syndromes (see opioids) and to more informative instruments for pain measurement and management into the clinic of major counsciousness and painful disorders.

Abstract
