This chapter discusses how the process of identity formation and professional practice constructed through formal and informal learning events can support or block the conciliation between political and professional processes. In doing so a brief exploration of learning theories relevant to professional development is carried out. Reflection upon teaching judgement and decision-making to Advanced Practitioners and the implication for the formal and informal design and implementation of learning programmes is discussed.
