In the nursery school telling stories is a fundamental activity because it represents a ‘magical’ moment in adult to child communication, and it is also a very important linguistic, cognitive and psychological tool. As far as mathematical education is concerned, fairy-tales are a favourite means as they lead the child to the assimilation of general ideas relating to logical concepts, preparing them to form a mentality apt to see the discipline at a later stage as a way of doing, thinking and acting. Within this frame the present study outlines the practical guidelines and the results of the Action-Research project Logical-Mathematical Pathways in the Nursery School: I’ll tell you a story, carried out by the CIRD (Interdepartmental Centre for Didactic Research) of the University of Calabria during the 2010/2011 school year for teacher training purposes.

Abstract
In the nursery school telling stories is a fundamental activity because it represents a ‘magical’ moment in adult to child communication, and it is also a very important linguistic, cognitive and psychological tool. As far as mathematical education is concerned, fairy-tales are a favourite means as they lead the child to the assimilation of general ideas relating to logical concepts, preparing them to form a mentality apt to see the discipline at a later stage as a way of doing, thinking and acting. Within this frame the present study outlines the practical guidelines and the results of the Action-Research project Logical-Mathematical Pathways in the Nursery School: I’ll tell you a story, carried out by the CIRD (Interdepartmental Centre for Didactic Research) of the University of Calabria during the 2010/2011 school year for teacher training purposes.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
