The author performs an in-depth analysis of the problem of a science of education in Dewey. Why is Dewey so interested in “discovering” if a science of education is possible? The author explains that, since Dewey believes that education is fundamental to build democracy, the philosopher thinks that it is necessary to define education as a science. After a quite convincing logical analysis, Dewey asserts that education includes science in itself, and it is therefore very difficult to establish education as a science.

Abstract
The author performs an in-depth analysis of the problem of a science of education in Dewey. Why is Dewey so interested in “discovering” if a science of education is possible? The author explains that, since Dewey believes that education is fundamental to build democracy, the philosopher thinks that it is necessary to define education as a science. After a quite convincing logical analysis, Dewey asserts that education includes science in itself, and it is therefore very difficult to establish education as a science.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
