In this research the authors present the results of time and ergonomic analyses carried out within a real manufacturing system devoted to produce leather goods. The authors use the Method and Time Measurement (MTM) jointly with advanced ergonomic standards for investigating the interactions of the operators with their working environment and work methods. Moreover the authors use Modeling & Simulation (M&S) and virtual three dimensional environments as support tool for recreating the evolution over the time of the manufacturing system. To provide evidence on the relevance of the methodology proposed, the authors achieve the ergonomic effective design of one of the manufacturing system workstations and modify some operations that pose ergonomic risks for operators.

Abstract
In this research the authors present the results of time and ergonomic analyses carried out within a real manufacturing system devoted to produce leather goods. The authors use the Method and Time Measurement (MTM) jointly with advanced ergonomic standards for investigating the interactions of the operators with their working environment and work methods. Moreover the authors use Modeling & Simulation (M&S) and virtual three dimensional environments as support tool for recreating the evolution over the time of the manufacturing system. To provide evidence on the relevance of the methodology proposed, the authors achieve the ergonomic effective design of one of the manufacturing system workstations and modify some operations that pose ergonomic risks for operators.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
