Luminescent zinc(II) complex has been covalently bonded to the surface of mesoporous silica-and titania-based thin films by post-synthesis grafting method. These highly ordered and organized materials act as host matrices to increase emission efficiency of chromophore and guarantee the stability of fluorescence properties. Its incorporation into the films has been monitored by UV-Vis, FT-IR and ellipsometry spectrosopies. Results show that a highly luminescent species has been introduced in the mesoporous matrices preserving ordered porosity and high surface area of thin films. Resulting materials show an intense blue fluorescence monitored as a function of impregnation time.
