This work focuses on containers handling problems dueto new security issues in seaports. The need to findmore efficient solutions, in particular in relation to thecontainers inspection phases, has lead the authors to useModeling & Simulation as a cognitive tool. Severalanalyses have been made, aiming to evaluate the impactof some fundamental design parameters on the systemperformances. The proposed research is focusing on theuse of Design of Experiments (DOE) to developexperimental campaign based on simulation runs forbeing analyzed by ANalysis Of VAriance (ANOVA) inorder to obtain quantitative statistical results about theimpact of different security procedures on logisticsefficiency.
