The aim of this paper is to outline the loans trend in the Italian districts, by drawing on the amount and risk of loans. The analysis has been carried out by collecting and analysing data published by the Bank of Italy in the period 2000-2006. The study used a multi-disciplinary approach and it was led by a Principal Component Analysis and a Cluster Analysis. The Multivariate Analysis carried out six typologies of clusters of Italian districts which are homogeneous inside but heterogeneous between them by the financial characteristics considered.
