Abstract
This paper discusses how optimization uses simulation to design new manufacturing systems and to improve the per-formance of existing ones. We present an overview of dis-crete-event simulation-based optimization. In particular, we focus on those techniques that select new system con-figurations changing the values of key variables. We pro-pose a structure to adopt designing new simulation-optimization frameworks to allow advanced selection of system configurations. A comprehensive example of the performance optimization of a production line will be given to show the effect of the use of advanced selection rules.File in questo prodotto:
