This article introduces the arguments and work developed at the Sixth Analitica Study Meeting (Rimini 2008), organized by the review Analitica and the GATM (Group of Music Analysis and Theory), in collaboration with the Music Institute "G. Lettimi", the Sagra Musicale Malatestiana Music Festival and the Department of Culture of the Province of Rimini. The article goes over the events that marked Italian analytic studies brought forward during the convention in Reggio Emilia in March 1989 and identifies a few of the main arguments that have been discussed in previous meetings. The three days of the convention were presented with some of the most interesting proposals received by the organizers and two study sessions centred on music in Italy in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The first session deals with the repertoires, the language and the forms – with particular attention to the production of Angelo Berardi. The second session focuses on the grammatical and stylistic aspects of music written between the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
