One of the main phenomena that have recently conditioned the planning process in the banks has been, undoubtedly, the recourse to the strategies of external growth. In competitively complex markets it has become, and still becomes, necessary for a company to have a size appropriate to defend and possibly to improve its own competitive advantage. However, the same maneuvers of growth are even more often accomplished by means of flexible and deverticalized organizational structures, which are available to establish cooperation agreements with external operators, aimed to adequately facing the new variables that constrain the competitiveness of the companies in this field: the reduction of the operating costs and the increasing of the quality of products and distributed services. Abstract
