SUMMARY - The ethanol extract obtained from peel of Diamante citron was tested in vivo in order to investigate its effects on mouse metabolism. Two groups of male adult CD-1 mice were treated with different doses (300-600 mg/kg) of Citrus medica L. cv. Diamante phytocomplex, the control group was given a pair amount of distilled water. All biochemical parameters were in normal range, statistical differences were detected for body weight, glucose, cholesterol and triglycerides. The decrease of glucose levels may be due to an inhibition of action of -amylase that decreases postprandial hyperglycaemia by retarding glucose absorption. The effect in lowering cholesterol and triglycerides may be of great importance in reducing the risk of some cardiovascular diseases.
