Il reale ed il possibile. Il sacro dopo la morte di dio

This book addresses the theme of the "sacred" from a materialistic point of view. My thesis is that the experience of the sacred is a biological phenomenon, which is common to all human animals, atheists as to believers. The experience of the sacred is connected to the faculty of language: the sacred appears when, thanks to language, we can experience the fact that we are doing a particular experience. That is, the sacred is the experience of getting out of the experience. The anthropological and ethical consequences of this thesis are developed.

In questo libro affronto il tema del sacro da un punto di vista materialistico. La mia tesi è che l'esperienza del sacro è fenomeno biologico, che è comune a tutti gli animali umani, agli atei come ai credenti. L'esperienza del sacro è connessa alla facoltà del linguaggio: il sacro appare quando, grazie al linguaggio, riusciamo a fare esperienza del fatto che stiamo facendo una esperienza. Il sacro, cioè, è l'esperienza che consiste nel tirarsi fuori dall'esperienza. Nel libro vengono sviluppate le conseguenze antropologiche ed etiche di questa tesi.
