The Italian translation of the volume The Pragmatic Technology of John Dewey, of Larry Hickman, director of The Center for Dewey Studies of Carbondale (Illinois) is a fundamental aspect to understand the new interpretations of John Dewey’s thought. The Texan philosopher considers John Dewey’s philosophy as the reversal of Aristotle’s philosophy. In Aristotle it is clear the hierarchy between the theoretical sciences, those practical and those poietic (the poietic sciences, are subject to the others). In Dewey the philosophy is poietic, since that it realizes the relation theory-practice.

Abstract

The Italian translation of the volume The Pragmatic Technology of John Dewey, of Larry Hickman, director of The Center for Dewey Studies of Carbondale (Illinois) is a fundamental aspect to understand the new interpretations of John Dewey’s thought. In the Introduction the author analyzes the importance of The Center for Dewey Studies and the meaning of Hickman’s new interpretation.
