With the introduction of innovative instruments, the survey is becoming more associable to a scientific process considering both the methodology that qualifies it and the accuracy degree that it can now guarantee. The qualifying value of an architectural manufacture is not only characterized by the material of which it is made or by richness of its constitutive elements, but even more important, to the qualifying action, is the planing process followed by its author. It’s in the research of the planning rules that one of the most interesting tasks of the survey discipline is revealed. Analyzing historical drawings, it is frequently understood how certain believes made on a monument can be modified, even though it seems preserved unaltered up to our days; i.e. how the idea that a monument offers about itself changes, both because cognitive instances are changing and because new interpretations are supported by more reliable surveys. The laser scanner survey realized on the Temple of San Pietro in Montorio was brought on for two main reasons: first of all to trace, with the aid of accurate measurements, the real shape of the monument in order to point out more reliable interpretations of its formal characters (proportions, modularity, etc.); second of all to define a systematic approach of the digital representation process in order get in return graphical devices the most pertinent possible with the type of intended investigation, with the chance to promote, eventually, new hypothesis of interpretation on the monument.

Abstract
The laser scanner survey realized on the Temple of San Pietro in Montorio was brought on for two main reasons: first of all to trace, with the aid of accurate measurements, the real shape of the monument in order to point out more reliable interpretations of its formal characters (proportions, modularity, etc.); second of all to define a systematic approach of the digital representation process in order get in return graphical devices the most pertinent possible with the type of intended investigation, with the chance to promote, eventually, new hypothesis of interpretation on the monument.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
