This work describes the results of a study about a monumental and valuable complex: The Prince’s Fountain in the Sabatini’s Castle, in the district of Cirò Marina. The study has been organized and developed through stages of an advanced diagnostic plane. These stages consider the acquisition of knowledge about the history, the features of aterials, the preservation state and the identification of the decay to value level of risk of the same monument. The following study has been organized with parts integrated among them; specifically the cognitive process proposed has been organized and developed in several stages and it focuses attention on the fountain, being part of the complex. An introductory phase dedicated to the acquisition of historical knowledge has been developed using oral history and historical knowledge locally reported. The procedure has been organized later in two phases: a first stage dedicated to the analysis of the constitutive materials and to a more appropriated analytic method and a second stage dedicated to identify inner workings of decline and decay. In the third and final phase, following the diagnosis, achievable activities of protection and promotion of the complex have been recommended, in order to possible restoration and preservation works. The final aim is to illustrate the importance of cognitive process to plan more appropriate and efficient procedures of intervention based on the comprehension of phenomenon connected with the nature of materials, their alteration and their decay.

Abstract
The final aim is to illustrate the importance of cognitive process to plan more appropriate and efficient procedures of intervention based on the comprehension of phenomenon connected with the nature of materials, their alteration and their decay.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
