PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATIONS AT THE RESTORATION PROJECT

The restoration or conservation are begin to take shape during the cognitive approach with the artifact is in fact in direct surveys to assess the state of conservation that focus the issues to be addressed and resolved. A thorough knowledge of the monument is also imperative to initiate actions to value that should amplify the effect of interventions in a logic of prevention that avoids neglect and then leave again for a monument to himself. In the present work the focus is on the castle of Belvedere Maritime in Calabria, the work of relief dating from the year one thousand, but left in a complete state of disrepair. To give a contribution to the enhancement of the monument but also to provide useful information at the implementation of any restoration work is presented in a structured survey at testing a recovery plan, developing an initial survey phase with reference to the context in which it is located and then investigate aspects related to the materials with which it was made structure. To this end, a survey was conducted historical and architectural ccompanied by graphic and photographic dossier and was planned a sampling plan. On the samples were carried out, therefore, specific laboratory tests that have enabled us to acquire useful and necessary information in order to set the correct action.
