Against the background of linking existing knowledge organization systems in specialized knowledge domains in order to improve information retrieval and knowledge representation tasks, in this paper we put forward a framework for mapping the INMOTO Tourism Thesaurus, defined in the field of a national project, to the World Tourism Organization’s Thésaurus du tourisme et des loisirs. It begins by exploring the semantic coverage of the newly created INMOTO Thesaurus with respect to the existing resource, and vice versa, in order to evaluate the feasibility of a possible alignment. It goes on to outline the proposed mapping procedure, which is based on the mapping properties outlined in the ISO 25964-2:2013 standard, and gives examples from both thesauri.

Abstract
Against the background of linking existing knowledge organization systems in specialized knowledge domains in order to improve information retrieval and knowledge representation tasks, in this paper we put forward a framework for mapping the INMOTO Tourism Thesaurus, defined in the field of a national project, to the World Tourism Organization’s Thésaurus du tourisme et des loisirs. It begins by exploring the semantic coverage of the newly created INMOTO Thesaurus with respect to the existing resource, and vice versa, in order to evaluate the feasibility of a possible alignment. It goes on to outline the proposed mapping procedure, which is based on the mapping properties outlined in the ISO 25964-2:2013 standard, and gives examples from both thesauri.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
