Abstract

We present a non-technical review of a selected set of ideas pertaining to the application of methods from the theory of dynamical complexity to problems in astrophysics and geospace physics. In particular the controversial question of a possible relationship between turbulence and self-organized criticality is discussed in some detail. © 2007 American Institute of Physics.
