RTO (Real Time Objects) is a concurrent, object oriented programming paradigm designed to meet the requirements of real-time applications. It is based on active objects communicating via asynchronous messages, non preemptable methods and application dependent control strategies of message dispatching which are user-programmable. RTO may be hosted by a high-level language provided of object oriented facilites and procedure types. A prototype implementation in plain C++, used to experiment RTO concepts and their integration with reusabiliy issues, is described along with some examples. Finally, future research directions are summarized.

Abstract
RTO (Real Time Objects) is a concurrent, object oriented programming paradigm designed to meet the requirements of real-time applications. It is based on active objects communicating via asynchronous messages, non preemptable methods and application dependent control strategies of message dispatching which are user-programmable. RTO may be hosted by a high-level language provided of object oriented facilites and procedure types. A prototype implementation in plain C++, used to experiment RTO concepts and their integration with reusabiliy issues, is described along with some examples. Finally, future research directions are summarized.File in questo prodotto:
