The chapter would have a double goal. Firstly, to foster the analysis of the main processes underlying the restructuring of rural territories in Southern and Mediterranean European countries in the new scenario of crisis. Secondly, to show how this new scenario is profoundly shaped by the arrival of new migrant population. Drawing on these emerging patterns and perspectives, this contribution aims at analysing the impact of multiple crises on the dynamics that have traditionally characterized migrations to and from Southern European countries, in order to understand related paths of re-spatialization, their effects on local development processes, as well as the boundaries and barriers that characterize these paths. We will confront evidences from peripheral and rural areas in Italy in relation to new and diversified dynamics of spatialization linked to: the evolving asylum policies at national and European levels, the management of local reception centres, difficulties arising from integration with local populations, respect for rights, goals for socio-economic inclusion and plans for more sustainable, rural developmental trajectories.

Abstract
We will confront evidences from peripheral and rural areas in Italy in relation to new and diversified dynamics of spatialization linked to: the evolving asylum policies at national and European levels, the management of local reception centres, difficulties arising from integration with local populations, respect for rights, goals for socio-economic inclusion and plans for more sustainable, rural developmental trajectories.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
