Thermographical investigations in architectural survey. A contribution to knowledge of materials and construction techniques

In architectural survey, thermography is particularly important to understand some of the determinants of an historical building. In this memory it is emphasized the need to establish a synergy between historical-critical research and thermographical investigation, both from the methodological point of view and application. For this purpose, we propose some theoretical considerations and a study aimed at investigating the materials and the technological solutions adopted in the historical center of Cosenza. Finally, the knowledge of the technological/material characters of an historical building (or an urban aggregate), acquired through the thermographical investigations and the analysis of bibliographic/documentary sources, contributes to forming the necessary substrate on which to base each restoration or valorisation work of an historical center.
