In this contribution we analyse the challenges encountered in the Italian translation of the poem “Ulysse” by Benjamin Fondane, a Francophone Romanian migrant author. Specifically, starting from some contributions in the field of French Translation Studies, we describe how we tried to maintain the stylistic and thematic complexity of the original in the target text. This will allow us to illustrate the solutions we adopted with specific reference to some of the most significant passages in the source text. It is our opinion that the analysis of the criteria of “re-enunciation” of a language with a complex aesthetics and carrier of an almost unsayable experience, becomes not only a tool for analysing the mechanisms inherent in the practice of translation. Also and most importantly, it offers a privileged point of access to a deeper understanding of the original text and of the deep meanings it contains.

Abstract
Also and most importantly, it offers a privileged point of access to a deeper understanding of the original text and of the deep meanings it contains.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
