The present invention concerns a nanotechnology-based delivery system of bergamot essential oil (BEO), method of preparation of the system and uses thereof. In particular, the present invention concerns alpha- tocopheryl stearate- Solid Lipid Nanostructures (alpha-TFS-SLNs) loaded with bergamot essential oil without psoralens (BEO-BF). The delivering of BEO phytocomplex (without psoralens) in a known amount, increasing stability of the compounds, and therefore product’s shelf-life, represent the aim of this invention in order to obtain an effective aromatherapy, such as in complementary medicine, with reproducibile aromatherapeutic effects. According to the present invention a nanotechnology BEO delivery system has now been found, which is able to deliver known amounts of the phytocomplex, without psoralens (BEO-BF), and to protect its ingredients, in particular volatile compounds, from chemical instability and from light or heat inactivation, increasing the phytocomplex shelf life. Therefore, according to the present invention, it is now possible to effectively use aromatherapy with BEO-BF in complementary medicine for the therapy of acute and chronic pain and prevention or treatment of BPSDs and any other stress, including itch-related behavioural and mood disorder in normal or demented people.

Abstract
The present invention concerns a nanotechnology-based delivery system of bergamot essential oil (BEO), method of preparation of the system and uses thereof.
