This chapter discusses the double role of Giambattista Vico in Esposito’s philosophical work: as one of the main philosophical sources of Living Thought (2010) on one side, and as a conceptual device on the other side. Vico is the ‘prototype’ of a conceptual work in which philosophy mixes itself with literature and science, history and anthropology, linguistics and poetry. In fact, Vico represents a paradigmatic case of such an ‘impure’ Italian philosophy.
