In the first pages of Welt und Person. Versuche zur christliche Lehre von Menschen of 1939 Romano Guardini recognizes, phenomenologically, the need to conduct a reflection on the person starting from the concreteness and the sense that belongs to him, in order to proceed "from what leads to what is brought and what is decisive on the plan of meaning "(Guardini, 1939/2009). This rise from possibility to reality is made possible by education. For Guardini, formation is also determined in the dimension of spirituality, as a constitutive opening of the person to freedom. The path of inner growth is accomplished through experiences, inner dialectics and relationships with others throughout the entire course of human existence. Inner stability is a peculiarity of adulthood, the ability to pursue a project and to be responsible for one's choices and one's role in society. In this existential season, the person consolidates his sense of belonging to tradition and structures a spiritual dimension that makes him feel that he is part of something greater that transcends him. The adult recognizes himself in his 'own' peculiarities, starting with his identity, to which Guardini reserves particular importance as it recognizes this specificity as the necessary condition for founding a family and responsible procreation. The person within the family becomes an "essential form of being" only if he faces this challenge with the necessary stability and bases the relationship on love understood as the ability to give oneself authentically to the other.

Versuche zur christliche Lehre von Menschen del 1939 Romano Guardini riconosce, fenomenologicamente, la necessità di condurre una riflessione sulla persona a partire dalla concretezza e dal senso che le appartiene, per procedere “da ciò che porta a ciò che è portato e che è decisivo sul piano del significato” (Guardini, 1939/2009). Questa ascesa dalla possibilità alla realtà è resa possibile dall’educazione. La formazione, per Guardini, si determina anche nella dimensione della spiritualità, come apertura costitutiva della persona alla libertà. Il percorso di crescita interiore si compie attraverso le esperienze, la dialettica interiore e le relazioni con gli altri nell’intero corso dell’esistenza umana. La stabilità interiore è una peculiarità dell’età adulta, la capacità di perseguire un progetto e di essere responsabili delle proprie scelte e del proprio ruolo nella società. In questa stagione esistenziale la persona consolida il suo senso di appartenenza alla tradizione e struttura una dimensione spirituale che le fa percepire di essere parte di qualcosa di più grande che la trascende. L’adulto si riconosce nelle peculiarità ‘sue proprie’, a partire dalla sua identità, a cui Guardini riserva particolare importanza in quanto riconosce a questa specificità la condizione necessaria per fondare una famiglia e per procreare responsabilmente. La persona all’interno della famiglia diviene una “forma essenziale dell’esserci” solo se affronta questa sfida con la necessaria stabilità e fonda la relazione sull’amore inteso come capacità di darsi all’altro autenticamente.
