Romanian academic research has always represented an essential point of reference in the study of literary synaesthesia at an international level, thanks to the pioneering scientific contribution of specialists as Tudor Vianu, Boris Cazacu, Mihaela Mancaș, and others whom we will mention in this essay. We will start from some considerations concerning the lexicographic attestation of the term synaesthesia, and then we will dwell on the Ullmannian studies carried out by Mancaș and on the further development of the method of analysis contributed by Erzsébet Dombi.
