Abstract
The analysis of literary and epigraphic sources provides some clues about the role of woman, certainly not secondary, in Brettian society from its origins. The funerary archaeology, at a higher social level, seems to confirm the prominent position of the woman, which could reflect the existence, among the Brettians, of a social organisation based on a system of bilinear descent, to consider - like their “obscure and horrible language” – as a specific character of the identity of this people.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
