The goal of the present research is to theoretically estimate both fatigue strength and lifetime of Ductile Cast Iron (DCI) smooth specimens under uniaxial and biaxial cyclic loading. To such an aim, a critical plane-based multiaxial fatigue criterion formulated in terms of stresses is hereafter applied to several experimental fatigue data available in the technical literature, related to both infinite and finite life tests. The theoretical results (in terms of fatigue strength and fatigue life) are compared with the experimental ones and, for finite life fatigue tests, also with those derived through the Crossland criterion.

Abstract
The goal of the present research is to theoretically estimate both fatigue strength and lifetime of Ductile Cast Iron (DCI) smooth specimens under uniaxial and biaxial cyclic loading. To such an aim, a critical plane-based multiaxial fatigue criterion formulated in terms of stresses is hereafter applied to several experimental fatigue data available in the technical literature, related to both infinite and finite life tests. The theoretical results (in terms of fatigue strength and fatigue life) are compared with the experimental ones and, for finite life fatigue tests, also with those derived through the Crossland criterion.File in questo prodotto:
