This purpose of this paper is to shed light, by means of the cartographic transposition of the information gleaned from Francesco Balbi da Correggio’s La verdadera relación de todo lo que el anno de M.D.LXV ha succedido en la Isla de Malta, on some aspects of the evolution and progress of Turkish artillery as opposed to the fortifications of the Knights of St John during the entire period of the Great Siege of Malta of 1565. To date, most of the numerous scientific works on this subject do not offer a thematic digital cartographic version which represents the event from a methodological point of view. Therefore, in order to render the historical narration more vivid, thanks to the correct use of suitable visual variables, I am hereby proposing cartographic representations which, rather than providing a new interpretation of the space, give an additional cause for reflection, leading one to discover unexpected relations and existing links.

Abstract
This purpose of this paper is to shed light, by means of the cartographic transposition of the information gleaned from Francesco Balbi da Correggio’s La verdadera relación de todo lo que el anno de M.D.LXV ha succedido en la Isla de Malta, on some aspects of the evolution and progress of Turkish artillery as opposed to the fortifications of the Knights of St John during the entire period of the Great Siege of Malta of 1565. To date, most of the numerous scientific works on this subject do not offer a thematic digital cartographic version which represents the event from a methodological point of view. Therefore, in order to render the historical narration more vivid, thanks to the correct use of suitable visual variables, I am hereby proposing cartographic representations which, rather than providing a new interpretation of the space, give an additional cause for reflection, leading one to discover unexpected relations and existing links.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
