This article focuses on Spanish language of bioethics with reference to Diego Gracia’s work. The first part deals with lexicological analysis using Sketch Engine. The second one analyzes the functional and pragmatic aspects which call into question some lexicographic, typological and grammatical assumptions. Finally, it shows the need to complement the deliberative method with Appraisal theory.
