Public Administration (PA) has for some time been the subject of analysis in the literature also from a sustainability perspective. In particular, the PA appears to be, together with businesses, a fundamental player in the process of building a sustainable development model, which takes into account both the environmental and social profile. The objective of the paper is to analyze the existing literature in order to focus on the role that the PA plays in national sustainable development strategies, then focusing on the analysis of a case study. The approach will be qualitative. The implications of the paper are firstly academic, as it contributes to the literature on sustainability in Public Administration, which is not yet very vast, according to the authors' knowledge, and, secondly, of a practical and managerial nature as the study will help for public managers called upon to manage the PA.
