Motivated by the rich interlinguistic variety and the limitations found in most of the existing instructional materials, in this article we outline the construction of a university course for the learning of light verb constructions (it. costruzioni a verbo supporto, CVS) in third languages. Starting from the twofold assumption that 1) CVSs are particularly complex at the production level and 2) as suggested by the theoretical framework of educational linguistics, learning CVSs in L3s requires an approach focused on (meta) linguistic reflection, the starting point chosen for the course presented here is the CVSs in the Italian language. We briefly review the different scholarly traditions of CVSs in Italian (L1), English (L2) and in the third languages we investigate (Russian, German, French, Romanian, Spa-nish, Dutch, Swedish, Albanian). We then move on to an illustration of the inter-linguistic variation and a reflection on the characteristics of the constructions that in the L3s correspond to the Italian CVSs. In the second part of the paper we present the evidence at the basis of the language course and the digital environment under construction for the consolidation of the correct use of CVSs.
