Since the 1990s, despite the persistence of coloniality (Quijano), many Mayan women poets have been deconstructing imposed discourses and developing their own aesthetics, situated and critical of the national imaginary, discriminatory speech and neoliberal policies. This article aims to show how, against the naturalised binomial ‘Indian-servant’ that pretends to socially constitute Mayan women, placing them in a subordinate position, Rosa Chávez, Maya Cu, Elena Nij Nij, Briceida Cuevas Cob in their poems move from resistance to the possibility of unleashing processes of stigma inversion (Goffman).
