Developments of prefabrication in the twentieth century in Southern Italy are still little investigated. Several studies concern built heritage in Campania and Sicily, while the Calabrian repertoire, less rich in realizations due to the socio-economic background of the region, is relatively unknown. This is the framework of the research project “Light prefabrication: knowledge, monitoring and requalification of the architectural heritage of the second half of the twentieth century in the regions of Calabria and Lazio”. The project is funded by the European Union Next Generation EU and is currently underway; it concerns the knowledge and redevelopment of prefabricated buildings realised with prefabricated components, also integrated into a traditional construction system. This paper presents the first results of the investigation campaign underway, and the case study of the Vaglio Lise district in Cosenza, developed in the 1970s, with the new railway station of Cosenza and a public housing complex. This case study shows the signs of the evolution of traditional construction towards a hybrid configuration, characterised by a reinforced concrete structure cast on site combined with industrial components. It also documents a phase of interaction between the Calabrian building and manufacturing companies and the evolution lines of the national building framework.

Abstract
It also documents a phase of interaction between the Calabrian building and manufacturing companies and the evolution lines of the national building framework.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
