Digital communication, with its pervasive and rapid nature, has profoundly impacted societal behaviors and values. This transformation has extended to personal archives, reshaping concepts of sedimentation, preservation, memory, and access. Archivists and researchers now face the challenge of developing suitable theories and methodologies to understand and address these changes. A comprehensive approach, incorporating both traditional and digital components of personal archives (such as emails, messages, and social media), is essential for improving the representation, preservation, and dissemination of these valuable resources. This paper aims to analyze and critically reflect on these issues, highlighting both challenges and potential solutions.
