This paper contributes to research on the evolution of construction techniques in Italy during the second half of the twentieth century, focusing on factory buildings and on the rationalization of concrete casting processes. This approach emerged in the 1950s and continued through the 1970s, with particular attention to the design of special formwork systems. The study highlights two realizations carried out by the construction companies Sogene of Rome and Borini of Turin: the construction of long-span roof structure, approximately 69 m long, for the “Shipping” building within the Avon plant in Olgiate Comasco, built between 1968 and 1969, and the mushroom-shaped pillars with hyperbolic paraboloid roofs for the warehouses of the Olivetti plant in Massa, built between 1970 and 1971.

Abstract
This paper contributes to research on the evolution of construction techniques in Italy during the second half of the twentieth century, focusing on factory buildings and on the rationalization of concrete casting processes. This approach emerged in the 1950s and continued through the 1970s, with particular attention to the design of special formwork systems. The study highlights two realizations carried out by the construction companies Sogene of Rome and Borini of Turin: the construction of long-span roof structure, approximately 69 m long, for the “Shipping” building within the Avon plant in Olgiate Comasco, built between 1968 and 1969, and the mushroom-shaped pillars with hyperbolic paraboloid roofs for the warehouses of the Olivetti plant in Massa, built between 1970 and 1971.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
