This contribution investigates the role of mathematical structures in piano interpretation and memorization. Through heuristic principles inspired by George Pólya, Gestalt theory, and logical and chromatic mapping, the score is approached as a structured problem whose internal relationships guide interpretative decisions. Therefore, memorization may emerge as a consequence of structural understanding rather than as a separate technical goal. The method is demonstrated through analytical discussion and live piano performance of selected works by Domenico Scarlatti and Ruggiero Leoncavallo.

Abstract
This contribution investigates the role of mathematical structures in piano interpretation and memorization. Through heuristic principles inspired by George Pólya, Gestalt theory, and logical and chromatic mapping, the score is approached as a structured problem whose internal relationships guide interpretative decisions. Therefore, memorization may emerge as a consequence of structural understanding rather than as a separate technical goal. The method is demonstrated through analytical discussion and live piano performance of selected works by Domenico Scarlatti and Ruggiero Leoncavallo.File in questo prodotto:
