This book investigates prejudice in contemporary Italian society, combining sociological theory with empirical research. It examines racism, Islamophobia, ethnic prejudice, authoritarianism and ethnocentrism within the broader transformations affecting identity and the relationship with otherness in contemporary societies. Particular attention is devoted to less explicit forms of prejudice, which may operate through attitudes and representations perceived as ordinary or socially acceptable. The empirical analysis explores the diffusion and structure of these orientations among the Italian population and their relationship with different value systems. The findings reveal the complexity of prejudice and discrimination, showing how attitudes towards others are connected to cultural, social and political dimensions. The book ultimately offers an interpretative framework for understanding the persistence and transformation of prejudice in contemporary Italy.

The empirical analysis explores the diffusion and structure of these orientations among the Italian population and their relationship with different value systems. The findings reveal the complexity of prejudice and discrimination, showing how attitudes towards others are connected to cultural, social and political dimensions. The book ultimately offers an interpretative framework for understanding the persistence and transformation of prejudice in contemporary Italy.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
