Buoyant dielectric testing particles in turbulent convective flows are subject to periods where stickings and flights alternate randomly, due to the appearance of vortices of different amplitudes. The alternating behaviour can be seen as an oscillating motion with random period. By using measurements from dielectric testing particles in Nematic Liquid Crystal films under electro-convective turbulence, we investigate the phenomenon of sign-singularity in the random oscillating motion by measuring the cancellation exponents in different convective regimes.

Abstract
Buoyant dielectric testing particles in turbulent convective flows are subject to periods where stickings and flights alternate randomly, due to the appearance of vortices of different amplitudes. The alternating behaviour can be seen as an oscillating motion with random period. By using measurements from dielectric testing particles in Nematic Liquid Crystal films under electro-convective turbulence, we investigate the phenomenon of sign-singularity in the random oscillating motion by measuring the cancellation exponents in different convective regimes.File in questo prodotto:
