The aim of this article is to verify in Italy, for the first time using a large sample of firms and for a wide period of time, the relation between diversification and performance. In particular the main theoretical approach, commonly used to explain the link between diversification and value, are investigated. Overall, the results seems to highlight that the diversification destroy value.
