Le trasformazioni recenti dell'industria nelle Regioni meridionali

The recent literature on the development of southern regions has pointed out the importance of the aggregation of small firms in some specific areas. Everybody agrees that such areas are far from reproducing the characteristics of Northern-east districts. Some people maintain that such systems of small firms are interesting opportunities for the economy of the South, because they may produce some paths of growth which, in a certain way, are related to what has happened in the rest of the country. There are a lot of studies that have tried to single out the system areas in the south of Italy. The objective of this paper is to analyze the formation and development of industrial districts in the southern regions in a long-term perspective. For this purpose, using industrial census data from 1881, analyzes the transformations of these production systems until the early 2000. Issn 1722 - 7666
