Abstract
In the complex frame of concord’s lexicon, the family of terms which is headed by philos / philia occupies a prominent place thanks to the wide range of meanings that it has from the beginning; the translation ‘friend’ - ‘friendship’ turns out to be not entirely satisfactory, in front of the multiplicity of forms of relationship involved in the Greek terms. In this paper we will try to account for the complexity of these shades, analysing the roots and the most important occurrences of archaic and clas- sical period (in particular Homer, Herodotus and Thucydides).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
