In Europe survives a psychological disposition, a political-cultural trend which leads to the need to denigrate customs, culture, inheritance and institutions that are identified as “ours” and to mark all those who defend the first person plural, in the sense of nation or community, as racist, xenophobic, nostalgic, reactionary, and chauvinist. It is a cultural phenomenon, an ideologicaltension that we can call oikophobia. Cultural oikophobia generates significant consequences on the political experience, where the word “We”, especially when it refers to the idea of the “nation”, isoften expelled from the political lexicon. Abstract

In this paper is explored the nature of the oikophobic prejudice and its strong characterization in some well identified areas of contemporary politicalthought, with particular attention to the Italian culture.
