The ninth chapter of “Democracy and education", entitled 'Natural development and social Efficiency as aims' is one of the most important aspects of Deweyan reflection. This chapter, that, in my opinion, determines one of the most significant Deweyan theoretical turn, it represents, first of all, a further study of the concept of education in the thought of the American philosopher and, as a result, the focal meaning of the relationship between democracy and education.

Il IX capitolo dal titolo: 'Sviluppo sociale e controllo sociale come scopi', di "Democrazia e educazione" rappresenta uno dei momenti più importanti della riflessione deweyana. Questo capitolo che, a mio avviso, determina una delle mosse teoretiche deweyane più significative rappresenta, innanzitutto, un ulteriore approfondimento del concetto di educazione nel pensiero del filosofo americano e, di conseguenza, la chiarificazione del rapporto tra democrazia e educazione.
