Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) has been usedsuccessfully as pure material to prepare membranesand as host matrix to prepare hybridmembranes, by a dry phase inversion process. Thefiller used in the hybrid membrane was NaXzeolite crystals. The morphological characterisationby SEM showed a not homogeneousdistribution of crystals for the hybrid membrane. Both membranes (hydrophobic) were used in abiphasic membrane reactor obtaining a selectiveoxidation of benzene to phenol. The reported results show that PDMS membranes gave thebest system performance in terms of selectivity tophenol (99.85%), benzene conversion to phenol(0.47%), and hydrogen peroxide conversion tophenol (37.99%). Research is in progress toimprove further the system performance.
